(Any place specific you're wanting to hit? It's a massive place so pretty much anything you can think of in a city would be there. Or I can give you a list of targets if you'd like)

The flyer takes off and follows a route familiar to Alister, south along the coast before heading west across the sea to the barren land surrounding the city ruins. White capped waves glint in the sunlight as a dark shore appears on the horizon, the air above hazy, almost as if the land is radiating heat. As you get closer you see dark dry earth scarred with occasional fissures, some of which look to emit some sort of noxious gas or fumes. What little vegetation you see are prickly shrubs and blowing tumbleweeds as dark as the land around it. You see no signs of living animals, though you've heard stories of creatures twisted by the residual metadimensional energy. On the horizon far to the north, a looming shadowed presence almost seems to sap the light around it, jagged ruins of towers pierce the clouds in a hauntingly familiar skyline.

The flyer sets down, clouds of dust trailing behind it. The anti-aircraft forces you to land a ways away and it's going to take the rest of the day to walk to the city. You'll either be salvaging at night or you'll have to camp somewhere.

As you exit the aircraft, your hair stands on end, Rey and Keaton can sense the almost palpable psionic energy in the air left over from the cataclysm. You proceed towards the city, dust poofing with each step. The air is hot and heavy, feeling at the same time overwhelmingly humid and completely dry. Not the slightest breeze gives reprieve to the heat, no birds or insects break the silence, your feet crunching into dry, dead soil is the only sound. After a few hours walking you near one of the fissures, about 10m across blocking your way. The bottom vanishes into darkness, but a fetid stench and broiling heat emanate from within.

Generally speaking Keaton didn't have a problem with heights. He might now, he thinks as he is carried over what might as well be a bottomless drop supported only by an invisible platform. He clutches the rope Rey gave him while trying and failing not to look down.

Right as Rey jumps out over the ravine, a boiling geyser of sulfurous steam jets up, scalding everyone in the area. (7 damage for fail)

Rey crashes into the wall on the other side, far below the surface. The rope was burned though by the steam, but his telekinetic transversal holds him against the wall.

Keaton prepares himself to bear Rey's weight as he watches him leap into the chasm. Suddenly the ground rumbles and a colossal jet of steam erupts from the fissure. Keaton calls out in pain as he feels the scalding steam envelop him. Cursing violently and disorientated he tumbles to the ground covering his face to protect his eyes. There's a jerk and Keaton is drug a few feet closer to the side of the chasm as the rope starts to take Rey's weight. Keaton tries to scramble backward away from the chasm with little luck until suddenly the pull from the rope disappears and he is able to make his way out of the cloud of superheated gas. (edited)

Standing he calls out into the remaining steam "Alister! I'm good, more or less, have you seen Rey? I felt the rope give out in the steam." (Psychic succor to heal 11 for himself)

From what you can see there aren't any structures or large rocks for cover. There is one of the crevices nearby you could hide in, but the geysers are sporadic and unpredictable. Otherwise there's a hill that wouldn't totally shelter you, but might block the brunt of it.

"We're going to need to take shelter. It's dangerous to wander about in a dust storm. We could blunder into one of those fissures or god knows what." He points to the hill. "That's probably our best bet. Unless you see something better?" Moving to the hill he removes several rolls of bandages from his medkit and begins wrapping the them around the lower half of his face, offering the rest to the others. After stowing everything again Keaton removes his pack and starts digging a windbreak in the hillside to lay in. "If you've got a pack use it to protect your head and break some of the wind. Cover any exposed skin you can with your cloths."

Moments later the wall of dust hits and everything goes dark. Howling winds and stinging dust and rocks pelt you from all directions, invading the smallest gaps in coverage, stealing breath and moisture from your lungs. Even covered you taste the foul grit in your mouths, scraping against teeth and tongue. You just make out a loud crash nearby over the cacophony, though you couldnt see even if your eyes were open. You can't tell if it's been hours or minutes, but as abruptly as it began, it ends. The storm continues east to break its wrath against the sea and you're left gasping, scoured raw by the storm. (Strength saves for everyone, take 1 strain on failure. No damage since the hill blocked the worst of it)

Rocks and dust trickle off as they land, but it seems solid enough. There's a gentle slope to the roof, but not enough to be a balance issue. It gives a fairly unobstructed view of the surrounding buildings.

Night falls and the others settle down to a restless sleep after the rough trudge into the city. No stars are visible in the sky, without the lowlight goggles you couldn't see anything at all and even with them it's difficult. The eerie silence during the day is broken by strange unknown creatures calling to each other outside the city. None get close enough to see, they seem to steer clear of the city. Otherwise your watch ends undisturbed. Auril fell asleep at some point and is curled up next to you.

As Alister finishes up his watch, he ponders the problems of the universe and the series of events that led to this catastrophe.

(We'll say Keaton is next since he rolled already) Keaton's watch begins similarly to Alister's, the sounds of beasts echoing outside the city, the city itself dead silent. At some point another dust storm rages past further to the south, not close enough to bother you but the noise is still loud enough to mask the sound of something approaching. Below, Alister wakes suddenly when something crashes into to him with a moaning growl. You see a ragged man half naked and starving holding a rock. Long matted hair tangles around his head and wide fevered eyes stare at you predatorily. He apparently tried to bludgeon you in your sleep, but tripped over Rey and fell on you instead. (Missed his surprise attack, but take 1 shock damage) He notices you waking and gives a horrid inhuman screech, waking the rest of you and alerting Keaton. (Initiative)

(I guess it's just a difference in expectations. A lot of the noise from a gunshot is from the exploding powder and gases escaping the muzzle? I didn't expect it to be completely silent but maybe just a thrumming base sound as the magnets engage. It's cool, just something I'll have to keep in mind for the future.) (edited)

(It's not as loud as a gun I'd say, but it's a ruined suburban neighborhood so the buildings are pretty close to each other. The shrieking had already alerted a few too)

The four of you huddle on the roof, keeping watch around you. Two forms race out of a nearby house, snarling and lashing out at each other, trying to get there first. They enter the house and you hear the sickening rending of flesh as they tear into the corpse. Another and then a fourth follow, and you hear further inhuman growls as they fight for pieces of the dead feral's body. They're utterly consumed in their hunt and have not noticed you at all or seemed to question what killed the feral.

(I don't think you'd know exactly where that stuff was, that's why I'm giving you some options. Basically higher risk higher chance of reward. The best pretech stuff would be closer to the center of the city, also where the large hospital was and any hangars/star ports would be but also most dangerous. Near the port along the coast has a number of warehouses, but less valuable goods. Random warehouses closer to where you are now are easiest to get to but they're not clustered so hitting more than one is harder)

You continue on through the suburban streets, around you is mostly residential but you see the occasional ruins of restaurants or shops. You feel eyes on you as you move, movement out of the corner of your vision, but nothing approaches. An oppressive weight settles on you, Keaton and Rey can feel the almost tangible residual metadimensional energy in the air. It feels almost malevolent, twisted compared to the energy you're used to controlling. As you're nearing the end of the suburb and start of the city you see a large building, roof torn off but walls mostly intact. It looks to have once been a large department store of some kind. Strangely, from above the walls you see bits of greenery and foliage growing, the first signs of verdant life you've seen here. There are a few other smaller shops to its sides in various states on ruin. For the moment you don't see any movement around you.

The inside is a dense jungle of plants, most of which you don't recognize. Colorful flowers and berries grow on bushes, vines, and trees and the greenery is so dense there's not an easy path through. You just barely make out faint chittering and the soft sigh of brushing leaves as something makes its way through the foliage.

A tiny flurry of limbs and scythes rushes out from the brush, a centipede-like creature about a foot long scurries towards you. Each segment of its body has small mantis-like arms that flail at you furiously. Keaton finds a strange bit of cloth that shimmers under the light of his glowbug. Picking it up, it seems to be some sort of strange clothes. Alister is drawn to a shelf filled with bits of familiar ship and vehicle parts. Most are fairly standard and he grabs a few for Abby, but he notices one part that sticks out. It's not something be recognizes, but looks higher tech than the rest.

Alister steps out, showing Rey his finger guns again before miming a shot at the feral. A large explosion ignites the air around the feral. (12 damage, failed his save) As the dust clears the feral is still standing, but looks quite wounded.

As he steps out a few shots go off from nearby roofs.

Two rounds hit the ground near him but one clips his arm. (17/3) Looking where the shots come from you see three different roofs, a feral on each holding a rifle.

(Rey or Keaton can shoot the sniper for Auril at a -2)

As you get closer you're able to see his wounds actively healing slightly, you recognize the work of a biopsion, the feral engaged with Rey (can use psionic succor as an instant action once per round). As the blast of shrapnel from your thrower rocket towards his face, he throws up a hand with a grunt of effort and the metal flechettes stop right before hitting him and fall to the ground harmlessly. That seems to have strained him and you doubt he could do that again.

(That super would have killed him. I try to say when you recognize certain techniques, if you had a metapsi I'd tell you every move they're making, they're all in the regular book)

(Keaton's putting the team on his back with these checks) As the wind gathers strength Rey teleports to the ship, carrying Auril as she runs. Keaton takes off but notices Alister lagging behind and falls back to help him and they make it to the flyer just as the wall of dust and dirt hits, a flurry following them through the hatch before it closes behind them.

Inside the pack Rey finds a few large bags of seeds. Underneath the bags is a rifle of some sort. It's organic, seems to be made of plant material. But it's currently dead or dried up and you can't get it to function.

(Keaton's cloth: Ghost Mantle: Designed for use by elite infiltrators, a ghost mantle can warp light around the wearer to blur his or her outlines and coloring to match the surroundings. The mantle can self-modify in one minute to appear as any normal suit of clothing and grants AC 15 to the wearer. When used in stealth mode, it grants a +2 bonus to all Stealth-related skill checks. TL4 sensors and scanners cannot detect the mantle as anything but ordinary cloth. Does not stack with nullification techniques Rey)

(My current armor has 1 better AC. Can it disguise the armor I'm currently wearing? I really haven't run into this yet but is it alright to be walking around the city armed and armored? I think I could swing it with my position at the hospital. Considering the kind of things I'd be dropping in on running the ambulance.)

(The cities on Brizeno that's fine, most people are probably armed in some way. Once we expand and visit other planets there'll be places where armor/weapons would be less acceptable or even banned)
